Points of interest in the Thung Nham Ecotourism Area:
Vai Gioi Cave: Located on a high mountain in Thung Nham, with an altitude of 88 meters, this cave has a total area of about 5000 square meters divided into 3 levels, each containing numerous sparkling stalactites and stalagmites. The three levels of the cave are likened to three realms: hell with formations resembling a cooking pot, the world of humans with bustling market scenes, and heaven with beautiful stalactite formations resembling bodhisattvas, buddhas, or master-disciple pairs.
But Cave: A famous attraction in Thung Nham, this natural limestone cave is 500 meters long and features formations that resemble a sitting deity by the river, creating a surreal and beautiful sight. Visitors explore this water cave by boat, as it is flooded. Guides use flashlights to illuminate any features inside the cave since it can be quite dark.
Fairy Fish Cave: This water cave stretches nearly 1000 meters and offers visitors the chance to explore a system of sparkling stalactites and an underground stream about 2 meters deep, visible throughout the year. Unlike other cave tours in Ninh Binh, visitors here experience the exploration by sitting on bamboo rafts, providing a unique and safe adventure.
Thousand-year-old Moving Banyan Tree: This tree has existed in Thung Nham’s forest for thousands of years and is located next to an ancient temple. The moving banyan tree’s growth has caused the ancient temple to constantly change position.
Thousand-year-old Ficus Tree: Associated with a story about King Dinh Tien Hoang planting a tree on a large rock, this ancient banyan tree has been sculpted into unique and beautiful shapes, making it a fascinating sight in Vietnam.
Bird Valley is home to over 50,000 birds of nearly 50 species, including herons, egrets, kingfishers, and fire-backed woodpeckers, among others. Many of these bird species are rare and are listed in the red book of endangered species. Visitors often visit Bird Valley in the late afternoon (around 5-6 pm) when the evening falls.
If tourists want to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and immerse themselves in the pristine natural environment, breathtaking landscapes, delicious food, and fascinating attractions, they can choose Thung Nham as a new destination for their journey.
